What is CBC The Hemp Cabinet

Cannabinoids 101: CBC Benefits & Effects

Cannabis sativa is a well-known plant with over 480 compounds, 68 termed cannabinoids. These cannabinoids have various uses, including interesting restorative potential, derived from CBD, CBC, THC, and Δ9-THC.

It’s not easy for a new consumer to distinguish between these almost similar compounds. At Carolina Hemp Cabinet, our primary goal is to educate our consumers on our products and help them make informed decisions.

What Is CBC (Cannabichromene)?

CBC stands for cannabichromene, a strong non-psychoactive phytocannabinoid. CBC is one of the six major ones alongside CBD, cannabidiol and has other names like:

  • Cannabichromene
  • Pentyl Cannabichromene

CBC and CBD develop from the same compound, cannabigerolic acid (CBGA), inside the hemp plant. The use of CBC is not intoxicating and does not make you feel ‘high.’ Instead, CBC leaves you calm and relaxed.

Cannabichromene can be used to make hemp-based products like cartridges, CBC tincture oils, and edibles. Cannabichromene’s restorative benefits include easing pain, neuroprotective, and mood improvement.

What Does CBC Do?

CBC works differently with other cannabinoids by interacting with CB1 or CB2 receptor sites in the endocannabinoid system (ECS). The interaction between CBC and CBI and CB2 receptors increases the body’s ability to produce endocannabinoids.

However, the interactions between CBC and CB1 are poor, so there is no euphoric high after use. CBC interacts with vanilloid receptor 1 (TRPV1) and transient receptor potential ankyrin 1 (TRPA1), which actively links with pain perception.

CBC Works With Other Cannabinoids

CBC works great as a standalone cannabinoid. However, its effectiveness increases when combined with other cannabinoids due to the entourage effect. The entourage effect makes the cannabinoids offer more as a group than as an individual.

Combining CBC with other cannabinoids such as CBD prevents intoxication, leaving the relaxed feeling with no ‘high.’

CBC also works in carrier oils such as MCT oil, palm kernel oil, and coconut oil. Mixing CBC with a carrier oil gives off a healthy dose of fatty acids with the calming and relaxing effects of CBC but is devoid of the psychoactive effects of cannabis.

How Do I Take CBC?

CBC is extracted from the crown of the hemp plant and pressed into an oil or extracted for ingestion. CBC oil is available for use in three different forms, including:

1. Ingestion through food and beverages

Ingesting CBC oil is the best option if you want to mask the natural taste of the oil or want the effects to kick in slowly. Eating CBC oil works similarly to taking edibles where, although it takes longer for the effects to kick in, they are prolonged, thus taking longer to wear off.

2. On the skin

You can use CBC oil to relieve localized pain by rubbing the oil on the skin. You can use CBC alone or mix it with another tropical oil and massage them together onto your skin.

3. Ingestion as a tincture

CBC oil tinctures are the most popular CBC products. You can use the product by placing the tincture under your tongue. Small doses of CBC oil are released into the mouth and absorbed into the bloodstream via sublingual glands.

You will feel the effects of CBC in your body almost immediately after using it and control the amount you ingest by controlling how long the tincture stays under your tongue.

How Will CBC Make Me Feel and How Long Does It Take To Work?

The amount of time it takes for CBC to affect you depends on usage mode. Tinctures take the shortest time while rubbing on the skin takes the longest to produce any effects.

CBC does not give any high feeling. Instead, it helps you control mood, acts as a pain aid, and leaves you relaxed after use.

CBC Benefits and Potential Uses

CBC has the following possible effects on you after use:

  • Used for discomfort, cell function
  • Elevating moods
  • Can be combined with other topicals for skincare
  • Moderating pain and discomfort through stimulating the production of endocannabinoids
